Arrival in Città di Castello for the guided tour discovering Aberto Burri’s contemporary art in his birthplace town.
Alberto Burri is one of the most famous Italian contemporary artist (12 March 1915 – 13 February 1995). We will visit two Alberto Burri museums, unique in the world.
The artist began his artistic career in 1946 after a stint as a prisoner in Texas during the Second World War. His contemporary work with paint and physical materials has been immensely popular throughout the world. His early work influenced the New Dada and Pop Art movements, and artists such as Rauschenberg, Christo and Jasper Johns credit him as an inspiration. A secondary exhibit of mostly larger pieces is housed in an old tobacco-drying warehouse – a site in itself to see, because it represents the industrial archeology of this area.
The first museum will be visited in the morning, the second exposition during the afternoon.
The lunch will be served in a unique farm. A piece of Naples (Napoli) in Umbria. It is a great opportunity to taste the famous Mozzarella di Bufala in a family-run farm.
The Mozzarella di Bufala is traditionally produced in Campania, especially in Caserta, Napoli and Salerno areas. The family decided to settle here in Città di Castello, perfectly preserving this culinary heritage.
Buffalo mozzarella (Mozzarella di Bufala) is a mozzarella made from the milk of the domestic Italian Mediterranean water buffalo (Bufala Mediterranea Italiana), is an Italian breed of water buffalo. The buffalo may have been introduced probably into Italy in Roman times, or during the Barbarian invasions of the Italian peninsula.
