Travel back in time walking through the ruins, discovering ancient houses, bakeries and shops that were part of the daily life of the city´s inhabitants.

Pompeii is the most compelling archaeological site in Europe, and its appeal goes beyond tourism.

Much of its value lies in the fact that it wasn’t simply blown away by Vesuvius: rather it was buried under a layer of lapilli (burning pumice stone), as Pliny the Younger describes in his celebrated account of the eruption. Pompeii was an ancient Roman town-city, mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

The eruption destroyed the city, killing its inhabitants and burying it under tons of ash. The site was lost for about 1,500 years until its initial rediscovery in 1599. The objects that lay beneath the city have been preserved for more than a millennium because of the long lack of air and moisture. These artifacts provide an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city during the Pax Romana.

Meet your Private Guide for un unforgettable visit to TRULLI Village.

The Trulli are typical limestone houses, built with a dry construction technique, with a circular plan and a conical roof, made with interlocking welded stones.

Although rural trulli are found throughout the Valle d´Itria, the highest concentration of best-preserved specimens is concentrated in the town of Alberobello, with more than 1500 structures currently active and inhabited.

These houses date back to 1700 and are now considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

But how are trulli born? The story tells that once the territory of Alberobello was administered by the Count of Conversano, who had imposed a heavy tax on the peasants of the area on every new house built in the kingdom. To escape the control and taxes of the Count, therefore, the peasants invented this dry construction technique that allowed the houses to be demolished easily, in case of a sudden royal inspection.

So, if you´re wondering why trulli are built this way, the answer lies in the cunning of the locals.

The fame of Alberobello has grown exponentially in recent years. So much so that even a dedicated cartoon was born. The episodes of Trulli Tales, animated series for children, are set in a magical village at the foot of a centuries-old olive tree that is very reminiscent of the Apulian city and the protagonists, the Trullaleri, have powers and magic wands with which they live extraordinary adventures.

In addition, these stone houses have become the latest fashion also in terms of holidays: many visitors are looking for trulli for rent, or even for sale, where to spend a unique and characteristic stay. The most requested are certainly the panoramic trulli, with views and viewpoints over the city but the best, and certainly the most coveted, are the trulli with swimming pool and relaxation area: real luxury resorts set in a fairytale landscape.

Have an unforgettable Aperitivo - Wine Tasting at La Cantina …… Aperitivo is included.

VISIT ALSO – Locorotondo and Martina Franca.

Buongiorno!

After Breakfast and check out.

Meet your Private Driver at the Lobby.

He will take you to visit The White city of Ostuni you will stop on the way to Lecce.

The historic core of Ostuni is located on a hill about 240 meters above sea level and is characterized by buildings built in white lime that make the country a truly unique location. The center, preserved within the Aragonese walls, has managed to preserve over the years its structure of a medieval village with numerous narrow streets that wind between the houses. There is no real itinerary to discover the country, the beauty is also getting lost in its narrow streets! The only real street in the village is "Via Cattedrale", which cuts the center into two parts and allows you to reach the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

The Church was built in the fifteenth century on the highest part of the city at the behest of Ferdinand of Aragon and Alfonso II. The building is in Gothic style, in the façade has a decorated rose window while inside there are three naves divided by columns and a richly decorated ceiling.

Near the Cathedral is also the beautiful Church of Saint Jacques de Compostela which is considered one of the oldest in the city. The heart of Ostuni is Piazza della Libertà, a place that houses not only bars and clubs but also the Town Hall, the Church of San Francesco and the famous Obelisk of Sant´Oronzo. The obelisk, almost 21 meters high, is named after Sant´Oronzo, the protector of Ostuni.

In Piazza della Libertà there is also the beautiful Church of San Francesco, a building that dates to the fourteenth century but has been renovated several times. Inside there is a single nave and there are numerous frescoes, including a painting by Luca Giordano, and wooden statues dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Those who want to discover the history of the city can visit the Diocesan Museum and the Civic Museum of Ostuni.

DAY 12- LECCE

 After Breakfast,

Meet at the Lobby your Private Guide for a Walking Tour in Lecce.

Known for being "the capital of the Apulian Baroque", Lecce is a city rich in history and charm that offers all its visitors a journey of culture and relaxation.

Located in the heart of Salento, Lecce attracts and conquers Italian and international visitors thanks to its history and beautiful buildings made using the famous Lecce stone. Known as the "capital of the Baroque", the city boasts a truly unique architectural, historical and natural heritage.

Elegant, charming and welcoming, Lecce is definitely a stop not to be missed during a trip to the Salento area. The city has really ancient origins that seem to date back to the Messapian age and then be conquered by the Romans who built a forum, a theater, an amphitheater and an outlet to the sea with the Porto Adriano, which is the current marina of San Cataldo.

Subsequently, the city was dominated by the Ostrogoths, the Saracens, the Lombards and the Slavs and was for centuries overshadowed by the importance of Otranto, capital of Byzantine rule.

With the Norman domination the city acquires fame again as an important commercial center, becomes the capital of Salento and the place where the Norman court is established. From this period on, with the Swabian, Angevin and Aragonese dominations, the importance of the city grew more and more. With the Aragonese the city became a real open-air museum since the construction of churches, palaces and works of great value that we can still admire was promoted. Just during the Spanish domination, the buildings were built according to a particular Baroque architectural style that took the name of "Lecce Baroque". Fundamental in the construction of the works was the use of a local limestone, known as Lecce stone, which has warm and golden colors. Currently the city is a real jewel and has managed to preserve testimonies ranging from Roman to Renaissance times.

Visit Piazza Sant’oronzo, Piazza Del Duomo, Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, Basilica di Santa Croce and The Roman Theatre.

In the afternoon enjoy 2 hours of laboratory of Pietra Leccese (cavallino)

The workshop takes place in a suggestive location, with an artist from the Pietra Leccese.

During the lesson, you will be able to apply in person the techniques of realization of an artifact in Leccese stone, created by your hand.

 Enjoy your Dinner at leisure.

Suggestions: Alle due Corti in Lecce.

After Dinner we propose a Private Lesson of Pizzica is included a typical local dance, not only for ladies.

DAY 13 - OTRANTO

Buongiorno!

After Breakfast your Private Driver today will take you to Visit Otranto.

About 40 minutes’ drive.

Otranto is Included in the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Otranto is an Apulian seaside resort that has also been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Considered the easternmost town in Italy, Otranto is a truly wonderful village in Salento that is worth knowing not only for its beautiful beaches but also for its architectural heritage. The historic center of Otranto is kept within defensive walls and still bears signs and symbols of the different dominations that have succeeded.

The position of Otranto, in fact, has always made it not only an important commercial center but also a place easily attacked by sea. The city was founded by the Greeks and, later, dominated by Romans who immediately understood its strategic importance.

Over the following centuries Otranto suffered the domination of the Lombards, Normans, Angevins, Turks and Venetians and then ended up in the hands of the Aragonese.

It has certainly left its mark in the history of Otranto the invasion carried out by the Turks in 1480 who landed in the so-called Baia dei Turchi – one of the most beautiful beaches in Puglia – and conquered the city by killing the population.

Currently Otranto is a city in Salento that is a perfect destination for a journey of history, nature, and relaxation. Its ancient village as well as being included in the club of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy" has also been recognized as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site as a Messenger of Peace Site.

The town of Capo d´Otranto (or Punta Palascìa) which is part of the municipal territory of Otranto, moreover, is considered the easternmost place of our peninsula since it is only 72 km from Capo Linguetta in Albania.
