Enjoy a visit of the most noteworthy architectural treasures of Rome surroundings, Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este, both UNESCO sites.
Our day begins with a visit to the remains of the wonderful Villa Adriana, the residence of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Examining a model reconstruction of what the villa looked like in the II century A.D and exploring the amazing ruins of the Imperial Palace, you will relive the melancholic atmosphere of the ancient rooms, with its marble statues, crumbling columns and abandoned lakes. Learn about the life and deeds of the Emperor through the commentaries made by the Poets and the Artists of the Imperial Age and appreciate his extraordinary love for art admiring the copies of the most famous wonders of the ancient world.
At lunch time we will move to a farm in the nearby that produces organic Extra-virgin olive oil where we will have the chance to enjoy a light lunch with local products.
In the afternoon, we go to visit Villa d’Este, the finest example of a Renaissance palace with its sumptuous Italian gardens. Discover the beautiful palace Renaissance frescoes and the stories and rumours about the Cardinals and Popes who lived in the villa with your guide. The terraces on the hill overlooking the Roman countryside will make you love the world-famous 16th century gardens.
Strolling in the wonderful gardens you can admire the ‘hundred fountains’ and the statues hidden by trees and flowers, hearing the lovely relaxing sound of the water.
