Our day begins with a walking tour throughout the enchanting town of Pienza.
Pienza is an echanting town atop of a hill overlooking on the splendid Val d’Orcia. Together with Val d´Orcia it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Pienza was the very first Renaissance ideal town to be built in Italy: it originally was a typical Medieval town but when in 1458 Enea Silvio Piccolomini was elected to the papal throne as Pius II he decided to transform its native town into a Renaissance ideal town.
Enjoy the breathtaking view on the wonderful Val d´Orcia and the special contrast between the Renaissance buildings of the main square and the rest, totally Medieval.
After having visited the town, enjoy a visit to Giuseppe´s cheese factory: here you will have the possibility to taste the well-known “Pecorino” cheese (sheep milk cheese) of Pienza.
Giuseppe is the owner of a cheese factory in the hearth of the Orcia Valley. He is a serious professionist and he really loves his job. Listen to him while explaining the preparation of the famous “Pecorino” cheese of Pienza and enjoy a tasting of his excellent products in a beautiful room with a big chimney and a wonderful view of Val D´Orcia.
The tasting consists of different kinds of pecorino cheese, cold cuts, salad and a cheese dessert.
