UMBRIA´S HANDCRAFTS AND SAGRANTINO WINE

UMBRIA´S HANDCRAFTS AND SAGRANTINO WINE

Our day starts with a visit to a ceramic laboratory in Deruta which through the centuries became known all over the world for the typical majolica ceramic. Here artisans still use the same traditional technique of over than 500 years ago.

Here we will have the chance to see how they work and paint ceramics.

Afterwards we will move towards Montefalco area; we will enjoy a wonderful aperitif in a wine cellar built according to the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro´s project. This winery is unique from the artistic point of view and for its products.

The Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro is one of the greatest contemporary sculptors, known and appreciated even abroad. His works adorn cities such as Rome, Milan, Turin, Copenhagen, Brisbane, Dublin, Los Angeles, besides the Vatican Museums, the Kremlin and the ONU palace.

This is the most particular and suggestive wine cellar in the area of Sagrantino wine production. The cellar is owned by the Ferrari family, the most important Italian “Spumante” wine producer.

Afterwards we will have a light lunch in an oil mill. The farm has got an ancient oil mill that presses the olives following the old technique and a modern one. Enjoy a visit to it and see the difference between the old and the new techniques of Extra-virgin olive oil production.

In the afternoon we will move towards Bevagna to have a nice walk in the town. Bevagna is a beautiful Medieval village rich of Roman archaeological remains.
