Our day starts with a visit to one of the most unique hamlets of Tuscany, BAGNO VIGNONI. In the past centuries many important people have come here to use its therapeutic water, as Lorenzo “il Magnifico” and St. Catherine of Siena.
In the late morning we will arrive in S. QUIRICO D’ORCIA, one of the most evocative Medieval towns of the Val d’Orcia. We will take a walk in this charming village discovering its special hidden treasures!
Afterwards, we move to a TRADITIONAL OIL MILL that has been owned by the same family for many years. Here you will be gently hosted by Ilaria and Roberto -the owners- two experts in Extra virgin olive oil. They will be very happy to show you their oil mill, introducing you to the fascinating world that surrounds the production of Extra virgin olive oil. They will guide you into an oil tasting, revealing a lots of secrets and very helpful information to purchase a good Extra virgin olive oil!
Enjoy a delicious light lunch based on local products in a charming room of the olive mill. The great Extra virgin olive oil and the good quality wine produced by Ilaria and Roberto will accompany your meal.
Afterwards, we go to visit to the beautiful town of PIENZA, the very first Reinnassance ideal town in Italy. In Pienza it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking view of Val d’Orcia and the Renaissance recreation of the central part of the town that is in contrast with the rest -totally medieval. Here you will have also the possibility to taste one of the most famous Italian “Pecorino” cheese (sheep milk cheese): Pecorino di Pienza.
